A Spider Story

So this morning I noticed a little spider clinging to my windshield as I started my 45-minute commute. He’d built a kind of grid across the glass so he could hang on while I was driving.  We went up the road, over a major bridge, and up the interstate. And I deliberately drove a little slower than normal so the spider could hang on.  At one point, when I hit about 80, he came loose and was swinging by a thread, just whipping back and forth.  So I pulled to the right lane and went as slow as I could until he clambered down the thread and got securely back on the grid.  We made it all the way to the parking lot without another incident.

Then I tried to take the spider’s picture with my iPod.  And I hit the windshield wiper switch with my elbow.

SIGH.
